Presentable

Welcome to the Presentable walkthrough!

You can also view this walkthrough directly within the app — in the Help menu within the app, choose Start Welcome Tour.

I'm afraid this web page is still a work in progress. Currently it doesn't cover all the features of the app. Sorry about that! I'm working on turning this into a more complete manual.

Feature suggestions, bug reports, anything else on your mind? Please choose Send Feedback and Bug Reports in the app's Help menu, and you'll be taken to a feedback form.

You can also email the developer directly: pauli (at) lacquer <dot> fi — I'd love to hear from you.

Here are some other free apps by the same developer:
PixelConduit, a realtime video tool
Radi, a HTML5 animation app

Welcome

This tour will show you how to...

• Build a presentation using the mouse or trackpad

• Use the Leap Motion Controller to present

• Set up a projector for display.

Creating slides

  1. While building a presentation, you'll use the mouse or trackpad.
  2. All the tools for creating new slides are in the center of the window. You can create slides either from files on your computer or from web pages.
  3. The left-hand side of the window will contain a list of your slides.

Web slides and editing

  1. Web slides are a unique feature of Presentable. A web slide is a live and clickable web page. It will even play video content, and you can click and type within the page.
  2. Once you have created slides, you can browse and edit them in Slide Viewer mode.
  3. When a slide is selected for editing, its properties will be shown at the bottom. You can enter slide notes here, and set a "tool preset" to crop or highlight the slide.

Presenting

  1. Once you're ready to try presenting your slides, have a look at the right-hand side of the window. This is where you'll find tools for presenting and previewing.
  2. To preview the screen image without connecting a projector, use the Projector Preview setting. It can be found under Preview.
  3. If you have a Leap Motion Controller, it will become active when you start presenting.

Setting up a projector

  1. Connect the projector as an external display on your Mac. If you don't have a projector connected, you can still preview what the screen would look like using Presentable's preview window.
  2. Presentable has a dual-screen mode that is great for presenting on a projector. In this mode your computer screen will show your slides and notes, and you can also click and type on web slides. You can choose either single- or dual-screen mode when starting your presentation.

Presenting on the Leap Motion Controller

There are many things you can do on the Leap Motion Controller while presenting, but changing slides is fundamental.

To go to the next slide, draw a clockwise circle in air, like shown on the right.

To go back, draw a counter-clockwise circle.

Scrolling within a web slide

When presenting a web slide, you can scroll within the page using the Leap Motion Controller.

Place your hand above the Controller and move your hand in the direction you want to scroll.

To prevent unintentional scrolling, these controls activate only when your hand is hovering at a certain point. When presenting, you'll see an indicator that gives you an idea of where the controls are.

Virtual laser pointer

Another useful thing you can do on the Leap Motion Controller is pointing and clicking at things on screen using a "virtual laser pointer".

To use the laser pointer, hold a thin stick (chopstick, pencil or other similar object) in your hand and point!

To click on links within a web slide, keep pointing with the stick and reach with your other hand's finger towards the stick.
